The Last

wasn't the first eyes u stared into,
and got butterflies,
wasn't the first hand that u held onto,
and thought "this is the rest of my life"

but i wanna be the one,
who helps u forget about ur past,
i wanna be your true forever,
might not have been ur first,
but i... wanna be the last,

wasn't the first pair of lips u kissed,
or the first name in ur diary,
wasn't even the first person u gave ur heart to,
the first one u ever loved, no it wasn't me,

but i wanna be The One,
who helps u forget about ur past,

asking ur daddy for permission,

    Powerful stuff as always my man! I like the theme of not being the first but wanting to be the last. Excellent poem!

    Thank u again, sir!! yeah, we never know who we are gonna meet in this life, and we can't always know that we are going to be someone's first. but if we play our cards right, we could definitely be ANYBODY'S last. Being someone's last is just as honorable as being their first. Except being the first, anyone can come after u. if u are the last.. ain't nobody taking your place...

    ps. how do i get the word out here on the blog? got a couple followers, but want more, would like to have some more comments and more people seeing it.

    any tips?

    My main tip would be to begin looking at other blogs and when you find ones of interest follow them and leave a sincere comment on one of their posts. People love having their blogs recognized, so the more you start to recognize other blogs the more they'll start to recognize you and then it will snowball. I would recommend going to your main profile page (not your blog page but your profile page) and scroll down to where you have your interests listed. They should be "clickable" so that when you click on "writing" for instance, it will show you the people on blogger who have also listed that interest. You can also click on your state or city and find local bloggers. Basically I would recommend following any interesting blogs that you visit and leave some comments. Hope this helps! Sorry if that was rambly :)

    I agree with Keith, visit other blogs that you have a sincere interest in and comment on them. It's a great way to get yourself out there and also a great way to make friends! I have some very close blogging friends whom I've never met from doing just that. As always, love your poetry!
